Dispassionate Lies, the Truth is Here!

Eileen Schuh has published two adult Science Fiction novellas, SCHRÖDINGER'S CAT) and her new near-future release, DISPASSIONATE LIES. She also has authored three novels in her young adult BackTracker series, THE TRAZ, FATAL ERROR and FIREWALLS. THE TRAZ is also available in a School Edition.

Her new near-future release, DISPASSIONATE LIES explores female sexual against a backdrop of high-tech science, governmental and pharmaceutical conspiracies, espionage, and perhaps even murder.

SCHRÖDINGER'S CAT, with its tangled relationships, weaves intense emotion into the science of multi-universes.

Schuh, born Eileen Fairbrother in Tofield, Alberta lives in Canada’s northern boreal forests and draws her inspiration from the wilderness, her grandchildren, family, and friends, and her adopted community of St. Paul, Alberta.

There is something quite special about my new near-future Science Fiction novella, DISPASSIONATE LIES. My previous novels all take place in my home country of Canada, while DISPASSIONATE LIES leaps across the U.S. border and makes its home base in Boulder, Colorado.

It’s true that my previous stories were set in Canada partly because of my passionate love for my country and also because of its expansive geographical diversity. Canadian adventure and action can roar across the prairies, lurk in back alleys of cities, battle it out in the dark dead of winter or sizzle beneath a summer sun—as it does in THE TRAZ.

Canada has wilderness, cities, islands, mountains, tundra...and oceans. Its people are equally as diverse and intriguing—here an author can find any kind of folk she wants to populate a novel. Having said all that, I fell in love with Colorado when I visited there, its miles of prairie butting against the jagged Rocky Mountains, four distinct seasons, forests and cities. It is welcoming and open and just happens to be the cradle that nurtured Google and IBM—the perfect setting for a high-tech SciFi.

I hope I did Colorado justice winding my story down its streets and through its seasons. I hope my readers can feel what I felt during my visit, hear the rivers, shiver in the snow, turn their faces to the sun, click into the high tech world of 2035 and cheer for Ladesque as she struggles to solve the mysteries of her past and save the world from the future.

Out her window, far beyond the house across the street, toward the west, across the flat prairie, the city limits brushed up against the Rockies. She thought maybe she’d visit the mountains today to seek their comfort and wisdom. Perhaps she was crazy, but when she touched their granite, she heard their stories. Although their birth had been violent, the years since had honed their peaks and softened their shoulders. Today, they towered above their people, massive and silent and unmoving. They controlled the rivers and the rainfall, the wind and weather for an entire continent. Basking in their shadows and breathing their air was intimidating. However, the closer one moved toward their cliffs, the closer one came to sharing their energy. “Lean your back against their rocks,” someone once said, “and their wisdom is yours.” ~excerpt DISPASSIONATE LIES
