How to Have a Fab Fun On-Line Party

Pauline Barclay talks to the multi-talented and best selling author, Janice Horton about how to have a fabulous fun online party.

Thanks for the invitation to guest on the fabulous Famous Five Plus blog with some of my favourite friends and author peeps. It’s like a party over here! Janice xx

As the author of four top selling novels, what made you decide to write a "How to book"?

Actually, I didn’t set out to write this book at all! At the start of 2013 I resolved to write three books this year. Parts two and three of my Voodoo Romance novellas ‘Voodoo Wedding’ and ‘Voodoo Child’ and a new full length novel, but after hosting several successful online parties and then being contacted by party peeps who wanted to know how I went about organising them, I decided to write ‘How To Party Online’: a guide that aims to help you to find fun and success while you party online!

Your book is not only informative on what you can expect from How to Party Online, but an easy step by step on how to organise a party, how long did it take to write?

Not long at all. It took maybe a couple of weeks for me to write and edit and then I sent it out to be professionally proofread and edited, which I do with all my books. While this was happening I commissioned the cover design. So I guess it took about a month all together from start to publication on Amazon for Kindle. The book is 93 pages long and was one of the easiest things I’ve ever written. I just started writing it as if I was talking to a friend about how to party online and, thankfully this is what readers have picked up on, with lovely comments like ‘it’s like getting help from a friend’.

Having attended all your parties, which were fabulous fun, what special ingredient(s) would you recommend is a must to include in Online Parties?

I think having a unique theme which involves your party peeps is a must. Asking them to do something that contributes to the party and which is fun for everyone is a winning formula!

Can we expect a new novel from you soon?

Yes. I have Voodoo Child coming out in October – my third in a series of romantic novellas. I’m also writing a full length novel that has been on the backburner for a while and is practically bursting to get out of my head! The hero is especially yummy and the heroine is going to fall for him big time – by the end of the novel of course. That’s all I’m prepared to share at the moment. I’m hoping it will be out for Spring 2014.

Have you another "How to Book" in the pipeline?

I haven’t got anything planned but I wouldn’t rule it out for the future. If I have gained any experience over the past ten years of being a published author that might be of interest to others and they ask me to share it then I’m only too happy to do so.

More importantly, when is your next Online Party?

Haha! I would love you to visit my blog and subscribe to my newsletter and then I’ll be able to send you a personal invitation to my next online party!
