Today we celebrate the publication of Michelle Betham’s new publication, Striker.
So, the ref has finally blown the whistle that signals the start of the game, or, in this case, the release of my new sexy, football-themed contemporary romance, ‘Striker’!
‘Striker’ is the story of Ryan Fisher, a young, very good-looking and extremely talented professional footballer. At the top of his game, Ryan earns big money, and has an ego to match. Cocky, arrogant, and living the stereotypical footballer’s lifestyle to the hilt, he’s about to make a return to his native North East England, after more than a decade playing in London, in a multi-million-pound transfer deal to local club Newcastle Red Star. But, Ryan’s return to his hometown isn’t quite as clear-cut as it may seem. Is this really just another high-profile, big-money transfer deal? Or are Ryan’s reasons for coming home a little deeper than that?
Amber Sullivan is a beautiful, feisty female Sports Editor on a local TV news programme. The daughter of an ex-professional footballer, she’s used to being around the kind of men who play the sport, but she’s made sure that she never becomes involved with any of those men romantically. She has her reasons, but as a woman who plays her cards pretty close to her chest, nobody can quite understand why she’s so set against a relationship with a footballer. In fact, despite being in her late-thirties, Amber isn’t really big on relationships, full-stop. But then Ryan Fisher walks into her life…
Jim Allen is a handsome, successful, American-born football manager who’s been appointed the new boss of Newcastle Red Star – the club he used to play for - in a bid to help them gain that league-title status that’s eluded them for far too long. But, whilst the club, and its supporters, are ecstatic at his arrival back on Tyneside, not everybody is happy to see him return. Jim’s confident he can bring success to his old club, but is the league title the only thing he’s out to win?
‘Striker’ is a hard-edged romance; a story of power and fame, sex and betrayal. Because the beautiful game isn’t always so pretty…
And when I say ‘Striker’ is a hard-edged romance, I mean that. It’s definitely not sweet, it isn’t conventional, and it certainly won’t be for everyone. It’s more Jackie Collins than Jane Austen, so, if strong language and the odd sex scene aren’t for you, then this isn’t your kind of book. But, if you’re looking for some sexy escapism, then the book I’m dubbing “Fifty Shades of Football” might just be up your street!
‘Striker’ is the first of three books to feature these characters, with the next two instalments – ‘Extra Time’ and ‘Final Score’ – due in 2014.
'Striker' is available to download now from Amazon!

ReplyDeleteI'm 70% through Striker Michelle and have absolutely no clue as to how this story will finish. I started out rooting for one of the male characters, then the other, then back to the first - don't know where I am - such a great pace - am loving it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Hope all goes well and those ruddy sock-puppet reviewers don't hear of this novel too soon. Best of luck... ;)
