Pauline Barclay reveals the cover to her latest book, Storm Clouds Gathering.
I'm rather excited today as I have just seen the cover for my fourth book, Storm Clouds Gathering. Designed by Cathy Helms from Avalon Graphics, I simply love it. What do you think?
Storm Clouds Gathering is due to be released later this year, here are a few words on what you can expect...
Set to the backdrop of the mid nineteen sixties, Storm Clouds Gathering is about love, lies and loss, but it will be the cheating and lying, the anguish and the bitterness that will change the lives of three families forever. For Anne Simpson and Paul Betham, Jimmy and Shirley Burton and Joe and Kathleen Mitchell, the events of the summer of sixty five will mean there can be no going back. To go forward it will take understanding and forgiveness, the question is: Is that possible?

Love it. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Thanks Carol.
DeleteI love the cover, Pauline! Cathy's done a fabulous job, because it really captures the mood of the book, I think. And it's interesting that you've got a character in there with the surname 'Betham'... :) x
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, Cathy has done a great job. I can't stop looking at it. LOL! And yes, there is a Betham in there!

ReplyDeleteHello CJ, I can understand how excited you must be. Now I'm looking forward to seeing your cover!
DeleteLove it, Pauline. At first glance I thought the flowers were red poppies, but I don't think they are, and it put me in mind of a World War 1 theme, which of course it isn't. However, the cover is stunning and very effective, I think it's a winner.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, the petals are rose petals. Thank you for your kind words and I have everything crossed when it is published it will be a winner!
DeleteLooks great and bound to be a great success!
ReplyDeleteThank you Serena.

ReplyDeleteReally catches the attention - beautiful, Pauline. It would make me pick it up and look inside! (previous comment removed by me due to typo!)
ReplyDeleteWhow! That is great it's a start to someone reading it!
DeleteVery arresting, Pauline. Well done to all concerned. Cathy Helms is a talented designer. Sad to say, I remember 1965 very well- when mini skirts (but no shorter than 3 or 4 inches above the knee) PVC macs and white Couregge (sp?)boots were the order of the day, so I'll definitely be reading this one. Sigh - am I really that old?
ReplyDeleteHello Gilli, mmmm and so do I! The book is more about emotions and what you could and coulnd't so easily do at that time, especially we girlies!
DeleteI absolutely love the new cover, Pauline. Its stunning! You and Cathy did an awesome job! xx
ReplyDeleteSuzy, thank you, I love working with Cathy she is amazing. xx

ReplyDeleteWhow! Thank you Caroline, I'd better get back to work. LOL! x
Delete*blushes* Thank you all for the kind and generous praise for the cover design! I was inspired, of course, by Pauline's synopsis and I must give credit to her also for the initial idea - I simply pulled it all together for Pauline!
ReplyDeleteNo need to blush, you did a fantastic job and I sooo love it!
DeleteLove it love it love it!!!!!!!!! Absolutely brilliant ;-)
ReplyDeleteYay! Janet, thanks!! x
DeleteWhat a lovely cover, Pauline and Cathy - I really do like it. Love the bold red against and contrasting white and grey.
ReplyDeleteSue, to me that is what makes it so striking the contrast of sombre and bold!
DeleteEye-catching cover, and the plot is well portrayed! ;)
